History
Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Dallas (BGCD) has provided summer and after-school supplemental education programs to youth for more than 40 years. Since 1965, hundreds of thousands of youth have benefited from the programs offered at one or more of the 13 Clubs that exist today throughout Dallas County. As times have changed, the one constant that has remained, is the mission of the Boys & Girls Club: “To enable all young people, especially those that need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.” BGCD is building the workforce of tomorrow. On any given day more than 1,000 members will walk through the doors of a BGCD facility. In 2007, over 10,800 registered members participated in five core program areas consisting of:

Five Core Program Areas
1. Education & Career Development
2. Character & Leadership Development
3. Health & Life Skills
4. The Arts
5. Sports, Fitness & Recreation

The average cost to provide comprehensive, quality programs to young people Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. during the summer and from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. during the school year is approximately $2,900 per member. However, our members pay only a one time membership fee of $20 per year with an additional $35 per week for the summer months. Scholarships are available to those families who cannot afford to pay for the services.
85% of every dollar invested in the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Dallas goes directly into youth programs.

Who We Are

3. Professional Staff
Every Club has full-time, trained youth development professionals, providing positive role models and mentors. Volunteers provide key supplementary support.
