Michael Hinojosa, Ed.D.

Dallas Independent School District


Dr. Michael Hinojosa was named superintendent of DISD in 2005, which brought him full circle to the school district he attended as a student, and where he began his career as a teacher. His career in Texas public education spans 29 years, and he currently leads the 12th largest school district in the nation with a student population of almost 160,000. Dr. Hinojosa’s many recognitions include being named a Distinguished Alumnus by the College of Education at Texas Tech, his selection as Superintendent of the Year by the University of Texas at Austin Department of Educational Administration Cooperative Superintendency Program, and being named Superintendent of the Year by the Texas Association of School Boards. Dr. Hinojosa received a bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech University. He earned his master’s degree at the University of North Texas, and received his doctorate from the University of Texas at Austin.
