Mike Modano
Dallas Stars Professional Hockey Player

Mike Modano found the sport of hockey at the age of seven and, upon graduation from high school in 1988, Modano was selected by the Minnesota North Stars as their #1 pick in the first round of the NHL Entry Draft. Modano played with Minnesota for five years until the franchise transferred to Dallas just before the 1993-94 season. The new Dallas Stars and their dynamic center began a love affair with the city of Dallas, turning this traditional “football town” into a hockey hot bed in the middle of the great Southwest.

Modano has led the Dallas Stars to one of the most coveted trophy in professional sports, the Stanley Cup. Along with the two prestigious NHL records, Modano holds all of the offensive Dallas Stars franchise records, and holds numerous play-off records. Offensive firepower combined with quick speed and full-throttle skating make him a favorite with fans, who selected him as a seven-time NHL All-Star. Modano also has represented the U.S. in world cup and Olympic games, where, in 2002, he led Team USA to a silver medal victory. Modano is most proud of the Mike Modano Foundation, which provides resources and education for at-risk, abused, abandoned and neglected children in the Dallas area.
