What’s more amazing than a have face to face experience with the job of your life and dreams? My job shadowing with Starlene Stringer left incredible memories that I will take with me as long as I exist. I represented teens of my age and showed that success is possible and that this honor would have never been accomplished if I would have never joined this amazing East Dallas Club. I never felt my blood pump so hard like it did when I entered the radio station, when I met Ben and Starlene. They showed me what this job shadowing experience can truly offer. For the teens that will read this blog I just want to say, I did not get special treatment to get this opportunity, I am not in a private school that offers this, I am a Boys & Girls Club of Greater Dallas teenager just like you that has a dream to aspire in journalism. Getting this hands on and face to face experience just showed me that everything is truly possible and I would love to do it again.

DFW Perspectives with Starlene Stringer - Radio Program

I only spent a short time with Jocelyn, but that was enough to see how passionate she is about the future. It’s evident that she has big plans when it comes to furthering her education and pursuing a successful career in communications. Her drive is impressive.

Being a Career Model for Dallas Elevators powered by Coca-Cola was a wonderful experience for me because it allowed me the opportunity to help a young person pursue her dreams. Local radio and television personalities mentored me when I was in high school and college, so it’s an honor to be able to pass along some of the encouragement and support I received.

Yes. I would love to do it again. I think it’s a blessing to be able to help shape a young person’s life in a positive light. So I’m happy to help with any program that encourages higher education and achieving career goals.

I encourage all professionals, in every career field to give back to the community by taking a little time out of their busy schedules to volunteer and to motivate a child. Many young people have no idea what career possibilities even exist. So it’s important that we take the time to expose them to different industries and let them know that no matter where they come from and what their past may be, if they work hard they can achieve anything.
